What is Project Mainstream Housing for Persons with Disabilities?
This program allows for low-income, non-elderly (18-61 years) persons or families with disabilities to receive a Housing Choice Voucher and live in an apartment or house suitable to their needs in the private rental market. For NED vouchers, the person with a disability must be the head of household or their spouse; for Mainstream it may be any non-elderly adult living in the home.

How does it work?
The person with a disability receives a voucher based on income and household composition and finds an apartment or house that qualifies under Housing Choice Voucher payment standards. Households pays 30% of their income as rent to the landlord. FRH pays the difference between the household's portion and the contract rent in the form of a check directly to the landlord.

How do I get a voucher?
FRH's Mainstream/NED program operates on a waiting list. When you reach the top of the waiting list, FRH will notify you by mail with instructions to start the qualification process.

Applied for the 2022 wait list?
You will be notified in writing if you are invited to complete the full application once a NED voucher becomes available. You must notify FRH and complete a Change Form if your address changes at any point to ensure you receive the invitation to apply, if selected.
